Smart Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-respected and growing food manufacturing company based near Chard. We are assisting them with the recruitment of a Line Leader, on a permanent basis.

The company manufacture fresh produce, which needs to be made according to specific procedures, and then stored, weighed, packed and despatched correctly, to ensure their product is enjoyed by consumers who buy it from supermarkets in the UK.

The position offered will involve leading operatives on a production line, wrapping whole and portioned product, making sure it is cleared for use and is packed to the correct quality standards. You will also need to ensure all production checks are completed accurately and on time and that all products are appropriately and accurately labelled, according to Customer and internal specifications.
You will work closely with the Team Leader to optimise product yields, minimising waste and giveaway, whilst maintaining full traceability of products through the packing and despatch process, including use of a system called EFACS.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a competent level of numeracy and literacy, and a basic knowledge of MS applications (Word, Outlook and Excel). You will also need to have food hygiene, COSHH, and HACCP2 training (provided to the right candidate if they don’t already have it in place).
The position will require an element of flexibility with regards hours, and occasional weekend work would be needed. You will have a basic week of 40 hours, but at times of promotion and leading up to Christmas you must be prepared to be flexible with what hours you work – overtime hours and unsocial hours enhancements are paid for this. You will also benefit from the company’s generous pension and holiday entitlement, as per the below:

Holidays - 26 days + 8 bank holidays
Pension scheme - employer contributions of 6% after 3 months
Enhanced hourly rates for overtime (over 40 hours) and certain time periods, e.g. weekends, bank holidays.
