Smart Recruitment Renews its Commitment to Tackling Modern Day Slavery

Stronger Together is a multi-stakeholder initiative aiming to reduce modern slavery, particularly hidden forced labour, labour trafficking and other third party exploitation of workers. It is financially supported by all the major UK Supermarkets, and has been developed in conjunction with Migrant Help, the Gangmaster’s Licencing Authority and the Salvation Army. It provides guidance, resources and a network for employers, labour providers, workers and their representatives to reduce exploitation. We are pleased to have renewed our commitments for 2018 and the year ahead.

Modern Slavery is often a hidden crime, and Human Trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world – it is a subject that is attracting much attention following the Modern Slavery Act 2015, whilst the resulting impact on those affected by modern slavery practices can be catastrophic.

To become part of the ‘Stronger Together’ stakeholder partnership, Smart Recruitment has provided evidence to publicly demonstrate its commitment to developing and adopting a proactive approach to confronting modern slavery. James Thompson , Smart Recruitment’s Sales Manager in Yeovil said: “Modern Slavery and its impact on people’s lives means it is incredibly important to develop a robust strategy to uncover any incidences of hidden labour exploitation. Being part of the Stronger Together Initiative helps to ensure that as a compliant and quality driven recruitment company at the sharp end of the labour market we can put additional checks and training in place to further ensure the safety and welfare of all our workers.”
