Job Description

Smart Recruitment have a really exciting opportunity to become part of a rapidly expanding family company, where the products that they make are at the heart of everything they do. Their produce is already well regarded as the best in its class, and with their reputation growing the business is set for a rapid expansion over the next 24 months. As a result the company are looking 2 x QA Officers.


The company manufacture high end food items, that need to be made according to specific procedures, and then stored, weighed, packed and despatched correctly, to ensure their product is enjoyed by consumers who buy it from various locations across the UK – The business is highly adaptable to the needs of their customers and are dedicated to the ongoing progression of their staff.

You will have responsibility for ensuring that food products meet standards set by both the company and regulatory authorities. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the quality assurance role is responsible for coordinating the activities required to meet the quality standards of the company within their production department, as well as assisting in the implementation and monitoring of BRC and customer requirements.

You’ll get to be involved in, and be responsible for things like:

Creating internal specs and completion of customer specs, QAS development and updates, equipment calibration, sample collection, organoleptic testing, enforcing GMP, H&S and Hygiene practices, staff training, and other duties that aren’t quite as interesting so we won’t list them!

To be able to perform well in this job, and therefore enjoy it and get great job satisfaction you will need the following skills and experience:

Knowledge of food quality and safety standards and procedures, knowledge of HACCP, BRC, H&S & GMP and ideally have some previous Food Safety Supervision Training. As a person we need you to be self-motivated, pro-active, have good attention to detail and be a logical thinker. You’ll also need to be flexible and adaptable with a supportive attitude.

Hours of work will vary, but are 42.5 hours per week Mon – Fri, shifts to be agreed (06.00 – 15.00 / 15.00 – 00.00)
