HR Officer

Smart Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an international engineering company that supplies to the automotive and aerospace industries. They are leaders in their niche field, and have operations in the UK and Europe. The company is very well established with very few competitors for their core products.

We are seeking to appoint a CIPD qualified (Minimum level 3) HR Officer to support their growing operations in the UK and Europe. The company ideally require a full time member of staff, but would consider reduced / part time hours if candidates can provide a good level of experience.

The position is standalone, and the post holder will report directly to the Engineering Director. The position will be heavily weighted towards recruitment and training, with an emphasis on recruiting and training the right people with the right skills to enable the company’s business to grow. There will also be the opportunity to become involved in T&Cs, policy formulation and providing support to line managers with people issues.

Main Duties

• Providing advice on interpretation of company policy, procedure & process with regards recruitment, training, induction and appraisal
• Continuous improvement of HR policy and procedure, including developing new ones in line with changing legislation.
• Liaise with internal management to ensure an effective staff training programme is developed & delivered
• Dealing with grievances and disciplinary procedures
• Disciplinary and grievance procedures
• Recruiting shop floor people, skilled and unskilled
• Produce offer letters and contracts for new starters / potential employees
• Producing monthly information reports to the Directors as requested.


Experience:

• Previous experience as an HR Officer in a generalist role is essential, as is a minimum level 3 CIPD qualification (would consider part qualified or working towards)
• Proven knowledge of employment law and best practice in recruitment, selection, inductions, and staff training.
