Job Description

Smart Recruitment are actively seeking a Line Leader for one of our main clients in Chard.

Main Duties:

  • Leading operatives on a production line, wrapping whole and portioned product.
  • Ensuring all the product is cleared for use and is packed to the correct quality standards.
  • Ensuring all production checks are completed accurately and on time and that all products are appropriately and accurately labelled, according to Customer and Company specifications..
  • Maintaining full traceability of products through the packing and despatch process, including use of the EFACS system.
  • Working safely and following Company Health and Safety policies and work instructions.
  • Assisting the Team Leader and Training Supervisor in the training of Packing Operatives.
  • Operation of Packing Machines and Line Equipment in the department.
  • Ensuring work areas and equipment are cleaned as set out in the cleaning schedule.
  • Accurately completing any associated administration

Basic hours of 40 per week Monday to Friday.:

Hours are varied according to business need, typically during seasonal promotions (including the period before Christmas), and may include Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Additional (overtime) hours are available at certain times but cannot be guaranteed and are voluntary. Line Leaders are required to start earlier than basic times in order to set up the lines. All working hours will be paid.

The perishable nature of our products means that work areas are cool, but appropriate clothing is provided.

Training will be provided to ensure that you will be multiskilled, providing variety of work for you and flexibility for the company. Periodically, there may be opportunities for progression to Team Leader.

  • Start and finish times may be varied
  • Working pattern will be kept as stable as possible, but flexibility will be required for changes to working days to meet business demands, i.e. to include occasional weekends
  • Working on Bank Holidays if required
  • Starting hourly rate of £9.30, rising to £9.79 subject to satisfactory completion of training/probation (typically 6 months). A pay award is pending which will increase this rate
  • Holidays - 26 days + 8 bank holidays
  • Enhanced hourly rates for overtime (over 40 hours) and certain time periods, e.g. weekends, bank holidays.
  • Pension scheme - employer contributions of 6% after 3 months
