Smart Recruitment have an amazing new opportunity as a Procurement Manager with a company that have grown consistently over the last few years. They want an ambitious person who gets their culture, their way of working, and can add value to their team. The successful candidate will lead procurement activities in areas of T&Cs, cost reduction programmes, bid management, benchmarking and supplier development & performance monitoring. This person will work closely with the Design and Sales teams to introduce the best suppliers at the earliest opportunity in the design of company products and at the bid stage to reduce risk to the client thereby enhancing the companys competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving supply base into a competitive position to reduce costs whilst ensuring fit for purpose quality.
  • Investigate potential new sources.
  • Negotiate payment terms and improve company cash flow.
  • Implement vendor management
  • Implement and monitor supplier long term agreements.
  • Rationalise the supply base in order to increase the companys bargaining power and to promote the introduction of key strategic partners.
  • Ensure appropriate flow down of customer T&Cs to reduce business risk.
  • Ensure that sustainability is maximise throughout the procurement process.
  • Work closely with shipping; import; export and finance teams to ensure all documentation is available and is properly recorded. Also, ensure Modus is not exposed to foreign currency fluctuations.
  • To investigate possible future technologies and monitor market changes.
  • Supplying data on savings and supplier reduction.

  • On Time Delivery: 95% (Quarterly improvements required to achieve 99%)
  • Cost Savings 3% against budgeted spend
  • Contract Review Response: 1day for runner/repeaters & 3days for strangers
  • Target 60days minimum payment terms
  • Inventory Turnover x6

Experience and Skills Required

  • Minimum GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above, ideally A Level with relevant qualifications. Professional Procurement qualifications are desirable.
  • You must be computer literate in MS Office with the ability to understand and interrogate ERP/MRP systems.
  • At least 3 years or more previous procurement management experience gained within a low/medium volume manufacturing environment, along with proven success in improving supplier performance and achieving year on year cost savings
  • Must be able to identify areas for improvement in the supply chain and use of suppliers to ensure that new ideas are developed, documented and implemented to agreed standards.
  • Excellent commercial and negotiation acumen, practical experience of managing varied procurement operations and the ability to build good supplier relationships.
